Scott Keene
Principal Investigator
sk251@rice.edu
Scott earned his B.S. from the University of Washington (Seattle, WA) in 2015. He went on to earn his Ph.D. in 2020 from Stanford University where he studied organic mixed conductors for neuromorphic devices and biosensors. He joined the Department of Electrical Engineering and Cavendish Laboratory at the University of Cambridge with a Marie Curie postdoctoral fellowship to study mixed ionic-electronic transport in conjugated polymers. Following his time at Cambridge, he joined the Department of Materials Science and NanoEngineering at Rice University as an assistant professor in July 2024. In his spare time, Scott enjoys experimenting in the kitchen and traveling with his family.
Intisar (Zeina) Qubbaj
PhD Student, MSNE
zq12@rice.edu
Zeina earned her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in Spring 2024. During her time at UTRGV, she was active in the Partnership for Research and Education in Materials Science (PREM) where her research project was designing fibrous membranes for drug delivery applications through emulsion based systems. She will start as a PhD student in Materials Science and NanoEngineering at Rice University in Fall 2024.
Qianyun Xiao
PhD Student, MSNE
qx18@rice.edu
Qianyun earned her B.S. from Beijing University of Chemical Technology and her M.S. from National University of Singapore. She is interested in polymers and biosensors. She will start her Ph.D. studies in the Department of Materials Science and NanoEngineering in August 2024. In her spare time, she likes dancing, reading, cooking, and playing badminton.
Yifan Zhou
PhD Student, ChBE
yz271@rice.edu
Yifan earned her B.S. from Nanjing University and M.S. from Hongkong University of Science and Technology. She is interested in bioelectronic implants, neural electrodes and device fabrication. She started her Ph.D. study in the department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering in August, 2024. She loves traveling, cello and recording life with photographs. Something interesting about Yifan: she used to have two cats, two dogs, a chick and a starfish.
Paul Kim
PhD Student, MSNE
pk71@rice.edu
Paul Kim is a PhD student in the Material Science and Nanoengineering department at Rice University. He earned his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M University in August 2022 and has worked as a research assistant with Baylor College of Medicine under the department of surgery. His previous research entailed polymeric nano and microparticle systems and implantable surgical devices. His research interests now focus on a combined in-vitro and biosensing platforms. Outside of the lab, he enjoys cooking and baking sweets.
Jolie Wang
Undergraduate Student, ECE
jw161@rice.edu
Jolie is a junior at Rice University majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Through an internship at Sandia National Labs, she gained exposure to characterizing materials and devices for neuromorphic computing. She is interested in the intersection of materials and electronics and hopes to further her exploration. In her free time, she will be having fun with her friends, especially exploring new food options in the city.
